Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) in Computer Networking is a comprehensive programme designed to equip students with strong theoretical foundations and practical skills in computer networking, systems administration, and network security. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, and infrastructure, while also developing competencies in computing, programming, and problem-solving techniques relevant to the modern digital environment.

 

The programme also focuses on developing well-rounded graduates with effective communication and teamwork skills, leadership qualities, and ethical awareness. In line with global industry needs, students are encouraged to apply innovative and entrepreneurial thinking in solving real-world networking and computing challenges. Programme Aim

The Bachelor of Computer Science in Computer Networking aims to produce highly skilled, innovative, and ethical networking professionals with strong theoretical knowledge and advanced technical expertise in designing, implementing, securing, and managing modern computer network infrastructures. The programme equips graduates with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to address complex networking challenges using industry-standard technologies and tools while fostering effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and digital competency. Through the cultivation of creativity, entrepreneurial mindset, lifelong learning, professionalism, and social responsibility, graduates are prepared to adapt to emerging networking technologies and contribute to the development of secure, reliable, and sustainable communication systems that serve industry and society.

General Requirements

The general academic requirements for admission into Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) in Computer Networking are as follows:

  • A pass in STPM (Arts Stream) with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • A pass in STAM with a minimum Grade of Jayyid in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 may be admittedsubject to a thorough rigorous assessment; OR
  • Two principal passes in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Education System); OR
  • A pass in any Diploma recognized by the Government of Malaysia and/or the Senate of the University; OR
  • Five (5) Passes in SPM/SPMV or in the General Certificate of Education ‘Ordinary Level’ (GCE) ‘O’ Level Examination (UK Education System) or their equivalent AND at least 3 years working experience; OR
  • Any other certificate or qualification that is recognized by the University’s Academic Board as equivalent to one of the above.

 

AND a credit in:

  • Additional Mathematics at the SPM level or its equivalent; OR
  • Mathematics and any one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level or its equivalent. Candidates need to take and pass the reinforcement Mathematics equivalent to Additional Mathematics at the SPM level. This subject must be offered in first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer.

 

OR

 

  • A pass in STPM (Science Stream) or its equivalent with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in Mathematics subject and ONE (1) Science / ICT subject; OR
  • Diploma in Computing fields (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 Candidates with a CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment; OR
  • Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) /Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval; OR
  • Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia(DLKM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval.

 

Other relevant and equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. (Candidates can be admitted if their admission qualification contains Mathematics subject (s) equivalent to Additional Mathematics at the SPM level. If it is not equivalent, the reinforcement Mathematics subject that equivalent to the SPM level must be offered in the first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer).

 

APEL.A Entry

Possess an APEL.A certificate from MQA for admission into Bachelor programmes.

 

Language Requirements – For International Students

Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:

  • 3.5 band MUET or equivalent to CEFR (High B1)
  • 40 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
  • 5.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
