Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Information Technology in System Development and Administration (Hons) is a specialised programme designed to equip students with a strong foundation in designing, developing, and managing ICT systems. This programme focuses on both the technical and administrative aspects of information systems, preparing graduates to take on roles such as system developers, administrators, and IT professionals in diverse industries. The curriculum is aligned with current industry standards and incorporates real-world applications, ensuring that students acquire hands-on experience with modern tools and technologies.

 

Students will gain in-depth knowledge in system analysis, network administration, database management, cybersecurity, and software development. Emphasis is also placed on cultivating ethical ICT practices and integrating Islamic values into professional conduct. General Requirements

The general academic requirements for admission into Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) are as follows:

  • A pass in STPM with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • A pass in STAM with a minimum Grade of Jayyid in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in Non-Computing with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 can be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment OR
  • Two principal passes in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Education System); OR
  • A pass in any Diploma recognized by the Government of Malaysia and/or the Senate of the University; OR
  • Five (5) Passes in SPM/SPMV or in the General Certificate of Education ‘Ordinary Level’ (GCE) ‘O’ Level Examination (UK Education System) or their equivalent AND at least 3 years working experience; OR
  • Any other certificate or qualification that is recognized by the University’s Academic Board as equivalent to one of the above.

 

AND a credit in:

  • Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
  • Candidates with a pass in Mathematics at SPM level need to take and pass the reinforcement Mathematics subject that equivalent to the SPM level. The reinforcement Mathematics subject must be offered in first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer.

 

APEL.A Entry

Possess an APEL.A certificate from MQA for admission into Bachelor programmes.

 

Language Requirements – For International Students

Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:

  • 3.5 band MUET or equivalent to CEFR (High B1)
  • 40 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
  • 5.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
