PROGRAMME AIM
This Diploma in Information Technology program prepares students for the challenging tasks by providing courses from the abstraction level up until implementation and deployment. The content designed for the curriculum covers the courses such as basic computing, programming, operating systems, networking, database, as well as Mathematics and English. These courses together, will shape the mind and body of the students into strong and versatile individuals that are capable to cope with the demanding computing work environment. The graduate of this program can seek employment in the area of software development, web design, web programming, PC maintenance, and any computing-related field.
This program has been designed in such a way as to provide the graduates with:
PEO1. To enable the students to graduate as competent and entrepreneurial ICT knowledge workers who are marketable to the Industry, locally and internationally.
PEO2. To equip the students with the relevant skills and knowledge for develop and administer the latest systems and technology.
PEO3. To strengthen the graduates who can act professionally and ethically as a leader as well as team player.
PEO4 To enable graduates who can pursue successful career and professional development
In order to receive a Diploma, a student should be able to:
PLO1: Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Information Technology principles.
PLO2: Ability to execute tasks and solve problems related to Information Technology.
PLO3: Ability to apply acquired fundamental Information Technology knowledge and skills in new situations and contexts.
PLO4: Ability to communicate Information Technology ideas effectively in written and oral form.
PLO5: Ability to work as an individual and in a team on computing projects.
PLO6: Ability to recognize and adhere to ethical standards and practices in semi-professional work.
PLO7: Ability to recognize the need for continuing life-long learning.
PLO8: Ability to know supervisory and entrepreneurship skills.
PLO9: Ability to know leadership skills.
General Requirements
- Possess SPM with at least THREE (3) credits in any subjects (inclusive of Mathematics or any equivalent qualification); OR
- A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum Grade C of Grade Point (GP) 2.00 in a subject and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level (or Mathematics equivalent to SPM); OR
- A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul (Pass) and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level (or Mathematics equivalent to SPM); OR
- Possess SKM Level 3 in a related field. (Candidates without Mathematics can be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment to determine their competencies in Mathematics that are equivalent to SPM level); OR
- A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in a related field with at least a CGPA of 2.00; OR
- Other relevant and equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. (Candidates can be admitted if their admission qualification contains Mathematics subject (s) equivalent to Mathematics at the SPM level. Those without a pass in Mathematics at SPM level or equivalent can be admitted but required
to take and pass reinforcement Mathematics subject. The reinforcement Mathematics subject must be offered in the first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer)
Language Requirements – For International Students
Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:
– Band 3 in MUET or equivalent to CEFR (Mid B1)
– 30 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
– 4.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
